“Where the wildlife comes to you”. The Victoria’s Riflebird is our speciality. Our self-contained accommodation is set in the rainforest, on the border of the Lake Eacham section of the Crater Lakes National Park. It is just a short walk to beautiful Lake Eacham. We are central to all the great birding sites of the Atherton Tablelands.
Our lovely, comfortable cottages are themed individually to make your stay just that bit more memorable. Awake to the morning chorus of bird song and feed the rainforest wallabies from your private deck while you enjoy your complimentary breakfast hamper and the antics of the visiting birds. Listen for the whip-crack call of the Eastern Whip Bird or the cry of the Spotted Catbird or the morning melody of the Chowchillas. During the night you can listen for the unusual “bomb falling whistle” call of the Lesser Sooty Owl.
You will be impressed by the Victoria’s Riflebird, which can be seen displaying for his mate at the cottages, or charmed by the personalities of the pale yellow robins, honeyeaters and eastern whipbirds which stop by for a visit.
The cottages are one bedroom, private and self-contained. The kitchen has an oven and cooktop, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, pots and pans, cutlery, crockery. There is a coffee machine, and a BBQ on the deck. The bedroom has a king bed, and there is a sofa in the lounge room that folds down to a double bed for 2 extra guests.
In winter, warm up with the wood burning fire, or use the heating from the reverse cycle air-conditioning system. In summer, there are fans and flyscreens, and also the air-conditioning.
A laundry is available for guests to use. Free wifi is provided in the public areas, and can be accessed in 3 of the 4 cottages.
