Birdwatching Tropical Australia offers full day and multiday birding and/or photographic tours seeking out the diverse birdlife of the Wet Tropics and Cape York. We specialise in the endemic birds of the area targeting species such as the Golden Bowerbird, Tooth-billed Bowerbird, Fernwren and Mountain Thornbill. Our Cape York tours seek out Papuan Pitta, Palm Cockatoo, Magnificent Riflebird, Ashy-bellied White-eye and Yellow-billed Kingfisher amongst others.

Tours are led by SATOUR trained guide, Doug Herrington, who has a great passion for the birds of the tropics with more than 23 years birding experience in the area. We sometimes include the use of other local experts. We pride ourselves in only leading small groups so that everyone has a great chance of seeing the birds on offer.

Tours can be tailored to your needs be it target species, endemics or just seeing as many new birds as possible. Bird photography tours are conducted in a similar manner.  Private tours can be arranged for those who would like to have the tour to themselves. All tours are relaxed and paced to suit our clients and their needs.

We visit a wide range of very different habitats from sandy beaches to rocky shoreline and mangrove lined estuaries as well as lowland and high-altitude rainforests, dry woodland savannah and several wetlands all of which provide superb birding habitat. Our scheduled Cape York tour includes a birding boat trip to several off-shore islands and a visit to the very northern most tip of the Australian mainland.
